Oh deer!

Meet my new best friend...glitter deer! I love christmas time, 'cause shops are full of things that shine. Sometimes, like yesterday, you can find something worth buying! I thought this silver and gold deer was worth it... Just look how cute it is! Now it stands on my window keeping watch proudly.
And I found it from Anttila...how weird is that! It's made of plastic, and covered with glitter.

Aaaand....before going to hunt my deer, I popped in to this charming retro/vintage store near my flat called Kauppahuone Keko(they don't have a working website, but the addres is at Harjutori, Helsinki). The shop is owned by this lovely 60 year old woman...she adores all her items that she's selling, and can tell you great stories about them. Just go and have a chat with her, even though you don't feel like buying anything, I guarantee you'll love it!

But this is what I found! I love old rustic candle holders. I haven't found anything worth buying for a while, so I jumped for joy when I saw these two! The lovely lady told me that they are from a Finnish family that live in Töölö. A family of culture she says.(awwww)

I find my new candle holders cute and akward. They are so weird that you just can't help but love them...and they are hand made!!


Now I'll always have a wise eagle to guide me through storms! ;)

Look what I found!

I was taking the garbage out here in Vuosaari, and found this cute lamp!! I thought it was so cute that I had to take it..someone had coldheartedly thrown it away. Poor little lamp!

Today I took a closer look at it to see how I should clean it and saw a little engraving on the back of the lamp...it says IDMAN! This is a design lamp from the 50's I think!I don't really know for sure, but that's what I suspect. If someone knows anything about it please do tell! I'm trying to find something from the internet, but haven't found anything about this particular lamp yet.


It's really dirty, and needs a lot of work, but because the fabric on the shade is some kind of plastic fabric I think I should be able to get it fairly clean. I'm also planning to change the ribbon that goes around the shade. I'm thinking a yellow satin ribbon with a big bow...lovely!




The foot of the lamp is the dirtiest part. I haven't tried to clean it up yet, if anyone has some ideas what products to use I would love to hear some tips! I'm worried that if I use too harsh chemicals I'm going to ruin it. Maybe I'll just try plain water first..



Then another thing I'm really excited about! A new chocolate I found from the store!! I'm badly addicted to Suffeli Puffi chocolate sweets, but here's a new competitor...The package is so CUTE! Wit all the different coloured sweets flying around! And what a concept...chocolate inside of chocolate...you cant' go wrong with that recipe ;)
Actually the candy isn't that mindblowingly good but, the fact that it's so cute looking makes it worth buying and eating!It's called Marabou Non Stop...so sweet and cute!

H&M Home edition

I've felt really homesick today. It has been raining the whole evening, and that made me think about home. I love to sit on my sofa in the summer with the window open, listen to the rain drops falling and looking at the sky...I love to live on the top floor with nothing blocking the view to the sky. Storm watching is really cool there.

So, we've staid in Vuosaari for few weeks, I think, and there's really nothing to tell about it. It has been just as depressing as I thought. And I know that it's all about the attitude, and this really isn't a long time that we need to live here...but you know, a girl loves to whine a bit.

Anyway, I went to my friends place today and she had this H&M Autumn 2009 Home catalogue! Oh my...I need so much stuff from there...and what a great thing it is that I actually need all the things I want!!Usually I feel guilty even looking at new pillows, or carpets because I never really need new ones, just want them. BUT now it's different!!Yey!!

My plan is to buy a really basic sofa with sleek lines, nothing fancy, so I can fill it up with pillows. Lot's and lot's of pillows. I find myself going towards greys, silver, white and black. At least for now...we'll see what I come up with eventually. I feel that there's a lot of plans developing in my head, waiting to get out.
