Are you a good friend?

I've been watching The Hills way too much in the past few days...I've seen all the episodes for like at least 3 times(and there's 5 seasons with at least 20 episodes in them all), so this would be my fourth time. Ridicilous....maybe...addicting...yes.

So The Hills is all about friendships and how they start and come to their ends. That made me think of my own history of friends. The friendships that have just kinda dried out or ended at a bad note, the ones that have been going strong for decades, and the ones that I have now.
What is a good friend like? What qualities makes someone a good friend, and am I one?

I've been horrible in the past and still am sometimes, but mainly I try to keep my friends happy, 'cause then I'm happy. I hate to see someone important to me feel like rubbish, 'cause no one should. I have friends that I am in contact with pretty much everyday, but I also have ones that never return my calls 'cause they're so busy but that I have loads of fun with when we meet, and the ones I can count on no matter what, even if we hadn't met in a year. Then there are the ones that I have cut off for some reason, and the ones that have been there my whole life. Everyone is different from each other which baffles me...there must be some quality that makes them all my friends, even if they don't know each other.
I'd like to think that I figured it out...they are all good people. All the people that I have in my life are good people...personalities are really different...vibe is the same.

There has been lot's of new people coming and going in the past few years with bit of drama involved. Some of them just stayed for a while but there are ones that I hope are to stay. You can never have enough friends, but the best ones are the ones that make life easier, and put up with all my not-so-briliant ideas and all my weird rules for life . Thank you for that :D

The answer to the question, am I a good friend; answer is that I do my absolute best in that. I'll end this with a brilliant quote I found from the Internet...(I've been reading way too much of those too lately. )

"A friend is the one who sits next to you and lets you have the pretty red crayon, when only the ugly black one is left." -Author unknown

The apples of my eye

The main accessories in my house. The ones that can't be ignored when stepping into my place. The ones that greet every incomer, like it or not. Tails won't stop wagging, not even when you hope they already would!

They drive me crazy regularly with all their stunts and stupid ideas, but what they give in return is something I'm incapable to put in to words. I laugh and cry so much that my stomach hurts...that's what it's all about.

Sometimes it feels that I must be crazy having these two creatures in my house, making a mess, voluntarily. But hey just look at those faces and try to say no. This post is a "tribute" to the ones that make my life so much more interesting!

Rinja and Jazz, the best pains in the ass ever.

H&M Home edition

I've felt really homesick today. It has been raining the whole evening, and that made me think about home. I love to sit on my sofa in the summer with the window open, listen to the rain drops falling and looking at the sky...I love to live on the top floor with nothing blocking the view to the sky. Storm watching is really cool there.

So, we've staid in Vuosaari for few weeks, I think, and there's really nothing to tell about it. It has been just as depressing as I thought. And I know that it's all about the attitude, and this really isn't a long time that we need to live here...but you know, a girl loves to whine a bit.

Anyway, I went to my friends place today and she had this H&M Autumn 2009 Home catalogue! Oh my...I need so much stuff from there...and what a great thing it is that I actually need all the things I want!!Usually I feel guilty even looking at new pillows, or carpets because I never really need new ones, just want them. BUT now it's different!!Yey!!

My plan is to buy a really basic sofa with sleek lines, nothing fancy, so I can fill it up with pillows. Lot's and lot's of pillows. I find myself going towards greys, silver, white and black. At least for now...we'll see what I come up with eventually. I feel that there's a lot of plans developing in my head, waiting to get out.

But underneath you can find some of the items that I NEED.

Vuosaari

Vuotie

...yes that's where I'm moving next Thuesday. I've always had the impression that Vuosaari is one of the s*itholes in Helsinki. But you know the irony is that I'm forced to move there now. Well I'd rather be there than in the middle of nowhere in Espoo where I was originaly planning to move during the time of my renovation.

To releive my anghuish I decided to do a little Vuosaari excursion in the internet, and what I found really surprised me! It might not be that shitty afterall....or I'm just trying to tell that to myself to make me feel better. Well anyway, this is what I found:

First of all Vuosaari has it's own website(I learned that so does every other district...didn't know that before), it can be viewed here. Vuosaari has it's own beach, multiple parks, Metro goes there(we'll it's the last stop) and there are lot's of old buildings there which really surprises me. I've been under the impression that it has only new horrible ugly buildings. There are two manor houses in the area(2!!) and the parks surrounding them should be nice. Miina Äkkijyrkkä a well known Finnish artist lives there, allthough she just got evicted from her farm a little while ago, but I think she's still there with her cows. She's know for making art only from cows. Quite strange and great at the same time!

The website is full of things to try and do, so I decided to make my time there as interesting as possible. I try to do something new every week. Who knows maybe I fall in love with Vuosaari and never wan't to leave anymore...doubt it.

When I get my camera working again...it BROKE!...I'll take it with me and go and see all the wonders of this "city by the sea". I might even enjoy myself, if I try really hard!

The world stops turning for a day

The King of Pop, Michael Jackson has died.

This is an end of an era. He was and will be the artis of a lifetime, atleast for me. Let us remember him, not for his scandals, but for his genius music, his controversial and clever coreographies and the fact that he was just plain glorius.

Since the Jackson 5 times, he has altered the field of music, influenced many artists , if not even all today. Thank you Michael for making our lives richer, making us aware of problems in the world before all others. Your legacy will live on for centuries, Rest in Peace "Maikkeli". You will be greatly missed.

Vacation

I've been in the eastern Finland for about two weeks now. I left my plastic covered home and came to stay here for my month long summer holiday. I've had my ups and downs here, but mainly it has been good.
I've stayed with my dad at our summer house, and now I'm staying with my mom. I'ts nice to see family but this 4 weeks in a row is proving to be a bit too much at times...;)

I've been thinking about the renovation, and still have to draw(yes I'll do it myself..omg) the blueprints of my kitchen renovation plans for the contractors. Hopefully that will be enough for them...I don't actually even understand why THEY need them, 'cause they have nothing to do with the kitchen part of the renovation. Weird. But they wan't them so I'll draw the blueprints for them.

This saturday I'm leaving to Stockholm with S, and last weekend we had a dog show in Seinäjoki...I drove 1400km that weekend, and I was exchausted after that. We had fun but it was really tirening. Stockholm should be fun! I'm just hoping that I won't spend too much money (as if...) like I usually do.

And 'cause I'm going to Helsinki this weekend, I'm going to visit my flat, and see what's going on there. I suppose atleast dust dust and more dust. But I wan't to take few pics of it's progress. 2,5 months to go, and after that we have to do the kitchen, so it will be near 3 months before I get to go back home. But I'm sure it's going to be worth it.Now I'll just try to relax, enjoy my summer holiday and hope for better weather!

Summer love

It's here! We've had a couple of days of pure heat in Helsinki. It was almost 30 degrees Celsius on the weekend. Perfect weather to gather up friends and go lounging by the seaside for the whole day.
Never mind the burned skin that's still itching! I'm about to leave Helsinki this weekend for over a month, so it was great to be able to enjoy the Helsinki summer a bit. I've been really feeling the summer this year. Previous summers it has felt like they just go by, and I haven't even noticed it but now I'm really getting a hang of it.

I've been packing my things this week. It's weird to try to think what I would like to wear for example in the beginning of September. It's going to be autumn then already! I feel like packing only summery stuff, so it's difficult to get my head around to think about warmer clothes. So far I've managed to pack one full BIG suitcase and a biggish bag of clothes and no end in site! I decided to pack everything that I feel like packing 'cause It'll be a agony to realize that I haven't packed something I would like to wear! So loads of clothes it is!
Three days to go, then it's bye bye. I'll be having an active summer so I think I won't get that bored...hopefully. I'll miss the opportunity just to call to a friend and do something with a short notice, but in a way it feels really nice to spend my summer holiday in my hometown. Now I'll just have to make that one big push and get everything ready before Sunday, so I'll have a nice new bathroom and kitchen when I come back home!
